Nar’s Noteworthy News

July 27th, 2008 . by Nar Nar

It is important that as we lead our busy lives, we often stop to look at how very fortunate we really are. It’s easy to take our everyday freedoms, opportunities, family, and friends for granted in today’s fast moving world. Did you know that in the United States alone there is an estimated one million homeless children? Los Angeles is said to have the largest population of homeless kids in the country, with over one hundred thousand kids living on the streets. It makes me shudder to think about all those kids struggling for simple daily needs.

”How wonderful is it that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”   -Anne Frank

That is just what we plan on doing this week at Camp Keystone, and we hope you’ll support us.

All week campers and counselors will be preparing for our eighth annual Penny Carnival. This event has become the biggest event at Camp Keystone each summer, and a time for our campers to reach out and help the world in an authentic and meaningful way. All proceeds will go to United in Harmony, an organization providing camping experiences and life skill classes to homeless children in Los Angeles. Our carnival is open from 1:00-3:30 for ALL campers and their families, relatives, neighbors, and friends. Bring your donations to the Keystone Bank and help us to provide hope to these impoverished children.

Check back here all week for more specific information on Friday’s Penny Carnival. And one more thing, tell someone in your life tonight how very fortunate you are to have them. You wouldn’t be where you are without them. Can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Nar
